Owner: Logan Dupont
Come visit the beautiful Walt Whitman Park, a gay-managed public space that is open, friendly and welcoming to sapient creatures of all species, operating systems, races, cultures, creed, and orientations. Established November 2002 by the Dupont family; expanded in January 2003 with generous support from Mr. Daniel Sawyer and the Jim Ellisim trust from the Ruth Ellisim Foundation. Park features include a frog pond and footbridges, trails, topiary garden, expansive swimming pool, cuddle benches, chess and basketball, and a 2-tier bandstand pavilion, among much more. Walt Whitman Park also is the site of the Alphaville Homomonument, a sculptural garden of pink tulips and lavender lights presented to the city of Alphaville by its gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered residents in appreciation of the welcoming environment the city founders provide.
